GEODESIC ARCHITECTURE:  AN AFFORDABLE ALTERNATIVE
Find resources to build your own dome, find those who can build them for you, or merely appreciate the style and substance of this unique form of architecture.
If only it were this easy!  But it can be with domekits from such reputable companies as NaturalSpacesDomes and Timberline.  Check out their web pages which include everything from floor plans to FAQs and price guidelines.

Geodesic domes: Invented by R.Buckminster_Fuller, one of the greatest innovators of the 20th century, his ideas have inspired many other great thinkers.

His principle of synergy, the whole becoming greater than the sum of the parts,  is in full swing with links to the dome home list and the domehome companion site which show many pictures of the most affordable and energy-efficient architecture style available. http://web.hoflin.com/DOME.html    When people talk about and share their love of dome living with others, synergy again finds a parallel in the way people learn and then utilize their strengths in building their own dream domes.    Click on pictures for a full-size view.

Whether you prefer the simplicity of a straight and pure dome style with skylights, or a modified dome with dormers or cape cod appeal, you will find that geodesic architecture allows you great adaptability in many ways.  Most appealing to me is how you can bring the outdoors inside through custom placement of windows.  You can usually put up the basic shell itself in one day or less, if you can count on your friends.  Instant sweat equity to the tune of 30-40 maybe even 50% is quite feasible.  And, believe me, if a storm or tornado hits, you will be glad you are in a dome.  The strength of its architecture is implicit in the concept of synergy:  all pieces of the dome working together to promote superior strength.  Perhaps the greatest part of it all is that you can build a quality living space for about half the price.  What's not to like?
